French techno ambassador Christopher Kah releases the three-track Heatwaves EP on his own Highwav label: a trio of captivating, pummelling cuts heavily influenced by both acid and industrial movements.
A native of Elsass in France, Christopher Kah is a self-taught, multi-talented multi-instrumentalist. A truly unique talent, he is an artist for whom the approach is every bit as fundamental as the result.
Last year Kah released his third studio LP, Limited Resource, a highly eclectic album based around live performances and maximalist sonic impact, all derived from a minimal set of tools. Earning glowing praise from compatriot Laurent Garnier and media such as DJ Mag in the UK and Groove in Germany, Limited Resource plays out like an electronic note pad, a pad where Kah expressed his deepest, darkest and most personal and vivid music ideas.

This latest EP continues in the same sonic vein as it's full-length predecessor, boasting three visceral techno cuts of the very highest order.
Lead track Heatwaves is a minimalist acid-flecked trip through dark dancefloors populated by seething masses as the organic and the industrial vie for dominance over the course of its brutal eight minutes. Drifting, ethereal spoken word vocals add further textures, all while the acid line bubbles brutally in the background, resulting in a record of quite exceptional strength.
Hybrids was produced using only two synths under Kah's Re:Source concept - utilising minimal inputs for maximum output - and absolutely delivers: a crackling, seething mass of hissing gasses and scything percussion dotted with warped vocals.
Completing the EP is Blastlight, a rolling, atmospheric trip through cavernous echoes and rising strings that offers welcome melodic relief after the intensity of Hybrids.
